Welcome Wednesday

Welcome Wednesday! And new followers :) And also to anyone stopping in from the above Blog Hop - I hope you decide to stick around with me and watch me grow. Regardless of who or what (Wednesday.. inanimate object?) you are, I hope you're all having an absolutely beautiful morning. It's a not-so-hot mess right now in my neck of the woods, but my iPhone has promptly informed me that it's going to go up to 99 today. Take a look at that for the week:

(Please don't privately stalk me. You may publicly do that - I'm all for love - but no private-eye status. )

One of the requirements for this little blog hop to my side of the pond was to have a post about it. But while you're here, I may as well write about something!

I love Wednesdays. Truly. They've been my favourite day of the week for as long as I have been able to remember. I even wanted to name my future daughter Wednesday - that idea got shot down as I grew older, but the fact remains. I love Wednesdays. I also enjoy that I have Youth Group on these days. We're doing a series on relationships via the Bible - non-Christian, Christian, romantic, family, and Godly ones. I'll be missing it today to spend time with my friend Gabbie for two days (the one who's book I edited - by the way, she just signed the publishing release! How awesome is that!), but I can't wait to go back next week to cover more relationships. Our lives center around relationships - to people, to objects, to whichever God we do or don't believe in - and it's so important to understand them. And if you're a Christian, to apply the Bible as best you can to them.

But yes, I adore Wednesdays. What else do I adore with a W? Hm... I like watermelons.

And (red) washing machines.

And walruses. They're so... masculine. ?

And witness protection programs.

No, just kidding about that last one. But they are wonderful for those who need them. Thank you for stopping by! I hope to find a bunch of new blogs to read :)

Me, Myself, and I: Week 1

        What is your biggest phobia?

I googled, and I don't think it actually exists. I'm terrified of nursing homes. TERRIFIED. I also hate spiders, but I have to say nursing homes are my biggest by far.

If you could relive any day of your life, what would it be and why?

I basically blogged about this here. :) Feel free to look it up! I couldn't decide just one day. But if it really came down to it, maybe Graduation day or Prom or the day I was saved. Those were amazing days for me. All gave me such amazing feelings of newness, wholeness, and a sense of "life is moving on."

If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?

I'm going to have to go with Shane on this one. I don't think I've found my perfect age just yet. I really loved eighteen - life was as perfect as it could get in my little world that year. But I'm always up for growth and new experiences. So I think I'll leave this one as it is and pray that I never want to just stay one age and want to keep on my path to physical maturity.

Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?

I don't believe I've ever been.

What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?

Family Tree - Matthew West
Beautiful, Beautiful - Francesca Battistelli
Freak the Freak Out - Victoria Justice
7 x 70 - Chris August
Set the World on Fire - Britt Nicole

And a HUGE etc to that question! These songs aren't all completely happy, but they all have messages and turn out positively. I didn't have a great childhood but I'm thankful for it :)

Just Admit It Monday

Well nerves woke me up, as I saw my roommate had been in a car accident the other night. So those of you that pray, please do. She seems shaken up :( Anywho, this is another link-up but with You're My Favourite Today. Mine will be -rather- boring, as I've only completed my first year.

Just Admit It:
Things You Did at College

I admit...
As much as I tell my younger friends to study, study, study in college, I usually waited until the last minute to study for things... aka I was more "study" than "study, study, study." EVEN THOUGH Psychology tells me this is ineffective - but a photographic memory grants laziness sometimes. As much as an overachiever I was in high school, I so -wasn't- this past year in college. I plan on changing that this year.... I hope...

One of the few times we tried group study... Yeah, it resulted
in the great Sticky War of 2011   L-R: Maria, Isaac, Bryan.
I admit...
There were days I spent way too much socializing when I could have been a) studying and/or b) making time for my (now ex)boyfriend Noel. I regret it a lot; sometimes I'd stop texting him because I was trying to do homework and stuff and then would end up just talking to everyone. But we had a lot of great nights together! And had amazing conversations that latest into the deep hours of the night, where we'd eventually be woken up by a fire alarm from drunk campusmates. I had to save these people quite a few times - to injuries, to hiding the smell of weed (I regret this), to picking one or two of them up while they were drunk (she knows who she is, lol)... Mhm, Mommy Elise right here.

Maria showing off her base skills L-R: Me,
Oscar, Kiana, and Maria on bottom.

L-R: Kyle, Bryan, Stanley, me, Jomar

I would show ya'll a huge picture with nearly everyone,
but Jomar lost a pair and unfriended me on facebook, LOL,
and it was his photo originally. (No, we never fought.)

I admit...
I got a lot closer to one of my friends from home while I was away, because when we were together I could never rely on her to make time for me. Even now that I'm home for the summer, I don't see her anymore. But at college, we're constantly on the phone with each other. (And most of my friends from home in general I got a lot less close with. One of the sad things about going away.) But I'm thankful for getting closer to my one friend because she became my rock during the end of my relationship with Noel.  Mandee has such a big heart and I know we'll just continue to get closer even if it means we'll be far away :)

I admit...
I'm a stronger feminist because of college. I found a calling of mine, and I'm so excited to have Women's Studies as my minor! I'm also thrilled to be teaching Feminisms.
